We can only manage what we measure,

Rachel Preece

Subsurface Asset Manager at Britannia Operator Limited; PESGB Council 2012-13

Phil Manton definitely knows his way around the upstream oil and gas sector, his e-book conveys a real passion for his subject and a keenness to share his learnings. Upstream operations will always be fraught with international politics, fiscal regimes, and necessary assurance processes, these all have a profound impact on project economics and portfolio priorities. New play entry has its own inherent risk, existing brownfields are at the mercy of growing maintenance and asset integrity needs (the stuff that finds us – invariably not the other way round, if only we could ‘see around corners’). This all costs a business, however new technology (recovery enhancement, inspection automation, subsurface imagery, remote operation, etc) can save $’s and extend field life. Phils comprehensive work books give a potential investor a thorough guide of what to measure and track. We can only manage what we measure, and in this case measurement takes significant research and intuition. Investment comes with risk – enjoy the chase!

Dalesman – WOW what a brilliant piece of work. Now I have the full set of workbooks, I planned some time off line tonight to go through them all for a few hours. The amount of information here is absolutely stunning.

I strongly recommend any people who are serious about investing in Oil companies and especially in LGO to read the full thread of posts here and then take a look at the link below and invest in the full set of workbooks:-

http://dalesmann.com/blog/

Once you have done this you will need to allocate some time to go through all the work sheets. After which you will you will have a massive amount of knowledge to aid your Oil company investment decisions.

We all say on here that you need to do your own research. This piece of work can definitely play a significant role for a lot of people who are serious about doing the own research.

Personally, I was perfectly happy with my investment in LGO before this evening and now, knowing Phil is just as happy with his investment gives me even more confidence than before that my money is invested in the right place.

Brilliant work Phil – Thank you very much

Everything you ever wanted to know (indeed you need to know)..

Dalesmann’s LGO Energy workbooks and the well tracker comparative data tables especially are invaluable to the serious LGO investor.   Everything you ever wanted to know (indeed you need to know) about this great Company is just a click away.  Serious investors will save hours upon hours of research as its right at your fingertips with these in-depth, comprehensive spreadsheets.    Invaluable if you really want to understand how LGO has developed recently, and, more importantly, you can project where it is likely headed in the next couple years.     Highly recommended.

AIM Addict, USA.

The cost of the package is £69 which works out at £3.50 per spreadsheet and £9.50 for the e-book.  The LGO fully populated workbook containing all of my research on this share is given as a bonus item  during the time of the current offer which will run to December 2015.  Kind regards Dalesmann.

……..I found it  easy to adjust the key variables

The workbooks enable the user to change key variables or assumptions and immediately see the effect that change has on the market value of the company. This is key to maximising returns on any news driven spike, or to more accurately guage an entry price for a new investor and even with my extremely limited knowledge of Excel, I found it  easy to adjust the key variables. The only problem with the Frontera workbook lies with the company itself and the lack of up to date information on production, resources and reserves. However with a comprehensive update expected shortly I hope to fill in the blanks and thus be in a much better position to assess fair value.

Kind regards,

Julian A Bishop Stortford

….should be commanding 3 x’s the value you have placed upon it.

Just a few words to say thank you Phil, This is a superb workbook, the information on Leni Gas and Oil, and ease of finding the relevant section is second to none, I have found this work book to be a must for any investor in Leni Gas and Oil. Everything from research to analysis is here in one place, and is a great tool for a serious investor.

It is worth every penny. The time and effort spent on those work sheets should be commanding 3 x’s the value you have placed upon it.

I would recommend Dalesman’s workbooks to anyone

“I downloaded Dalesman’s iBook and worksheets. I found them very comprehensive, informative; the iBook went through the worksheets in great detail. Dalesman also went through the worksheet step by step, not only clearly explaining how to enter the required information, but what and why each entry was important, also what each entry meant.

I would recommend Dalesman’s workbook to anyone thinking of investing on the stock exchange.

A first class service.”

to say I am impressed is an understatement

“From a small fry investor- I have previously been one of those investors whose research was limited to following chat room recommendations and then sticking my finger in the air and hoping for a fair wind (ie taking a punt).

I would think of myself as a trader if the price went up quickly and I was in profit; and then, as has often happened, the price would just as quickly do an about-turn and I would be sitting on a large loss, i would then say – I am in for the long haul and suddenly become a long term investor –  you know who you are – we’ve all done it !

I now realise that the only way to make serious money in this game, is to focus, do in depth research and have a lot of patience. Amongst other things, in the long run this will save you a lot of sleepless nights, stress, money and time that you waste when trying to trade short term and you will make a lot more money.

I purchased Dalesman’s e-book and workbook spreadsheet more on a whim than anything else, having read his in depth analyses on one or two stocks, including of course GKP. My thinking being that I would never have the patience to do it myself so why not hang on the coat tails of someone who knows what they are doing.

Well to say I am impressed is an understatement. The amount of work and time that has gone into producing his workbookis humbling.

It is an incredibly powerful tool that allows you to change every variable you can think of, at the touch of a button and seeing instantly the effect that change has on the market value of the company. I would imagine it to be on a par with, if not better than, those used by oil companies themsleves to carry out valuations. Dalesman will  take you through it step by step and give you as much telephone support as you need to get a feel for it. And all at a ridiculous bargain price to boot saving you from your own investing mistakes and helping you make thousands of pounds in the process.”

Excellent value for money

As a medium to long term investor, i like to do a minimum of due diligence on my investments and  when i found out Dalesmann’website , i thought the book and worksheets would be just the thing to help me building a strong base of knowledge in order to derisk my investment decision
I do not own any other oil stock on my portfolio, partly because of my lack of knowledge of the sector. I hesitated in acquiring the book,  afraid i would be lost with a lot of jargon I would not understand, spreadsheets that would be too complicated for me to handle.
But the hesitation was a brief one, having considered the low cost and the fact that all Dalesmann’s posts on the Bulletin Board are well argued , informative, and written in such a way that a layman such as myself can understand.
Acquiring the book and worksheets almost  lured me into thinking i am an expert  at valuing oil exploration companies …. umm at least it made me a lot more confident owning GKP stock ….
Excellent value for money, and coming with an invaluable after sale service !
The best Christmas present I could offer myself !

I would seriously recommend the work books to both new and old investors.

What can I say, I do like my charts, but to have access to Dalesman’s e-book and  private blog has been great.  I’ve been buying oil and gas shares for several years, yet there is still time to learn from others and that’s what I’ve been doing from the various workbooks.  Dalesman is also going to be showing my father in-law the in and outs.  It’s one thing seeing the valuations on a bulletin board where they cannot be manipulated, but when you see what happens behind the scenes, it’s impressive!

Dalesman’s Workbook is an essential tool for newbie’s in the understanding of ‘value’ for this interesting oil and gas shares.  My toolbox would feel empty without it now.

The support from the various forums is also a major plus.  Other investors share their ideas and experiences.

I would seriously recommend the work books to both new and old investors.

INVESTING IN OIL SHARES

I bought Phil’s original “Targeting Oil Shares” over 4 years ago and ever since, had the pleasure and honour to work closely with him valuing numerous E+P companies.

When it was decided that a major upgrade was required, I was given the job of “crash test dummy”

As a “newbie” to investing in oil and gas, it was my job to ensure that all the graphics, text and examples were clear and easily understood, even by the most inexperienced investor.

This resulted in many hours of discussions, some quite heated, and I think I must have pushed Phil’s patience to the limit. But we got there and the new Investing in Oil Shares was born.

We then spent many months testing the sheets and ensuring that there were no errors or mistakes in the manual, or worksheets.

What was pleasantly surprising was how often the Worksheets were correct. One example was that we identified President Energy (LSE.PPC) while trading at about 17p. The worksheets showed a very large undervalue, and a correction in the short term. However, I personally was a bit slow in getting in, but did buy at 26p. The stock is now trading at 45p.

We also identified a few companies that were a definite no hope companies , ones we should  stay well away from.

I sure Phil will disagree with this, but when you first open up the files, you’ll think I’ll never get to grips with all this, they look very involved and complex.

And to honest, they are very involved. However, the new manual takes you through step by step and a lot of the entries are automatically entered. It takes you through each sheet, explaining every entry and forces you to really think and fully research your next investment.

I realise I could come across as very biased, but I have genuinely made money using these worksheets.

I have much more confidence in my investments now, but more importantly I now fully research a company before I put my hard earned cash into it. Gone are the days of surfing the bulletin boards, flicking through the annual report (not fully understanding it) and pretending its research.

If you are serious about investing in oil E+P and are prepared to put the time and effort into the research, then these worksheets and manual are a must. Probably the best investment you’ll make.

There is the bonus that you can send Phil your completed worksheets for his comment. Please be warned, ex teacher and lecturer, likes to use his “red pen” Ouch!
